TRAILS FAIR ON AVERAGE
POOR RIGHT THROUGH TOWN
Trails range from POOR in town. FAIR as you move out. Some GOOD in the tree covered areas way out.
Warm temps are a thing of the past. Dropped on Sunday and will be in the teens for highs today and tomorrow. 60% chance of SNOW Tuesday night and should be some SNOW early Wednesday. May be couple of inches. Do the Snow Dance.
Groomer drivers are doing their best with not much to work with in some areas. Very heavy snowmobile traffic everywhere. When out riding this past weekend found the trails either hard ice covered or icy with loose icy SNOW on top. Corners were icy and some were burned through. In town and at crossings a lot of snirt. Riding was better out of town and improved the most in the woods. Open areas where the evil sun could get at the trails were mushy on Saturday. On Sunday the temps dropped with only some very light Lake Effect SNOW. No soft trails. Icy with most covered with icy loose SNOW.
In the last 24 hours the drivers groomed 70W, 3S, 10W/13N heading north from the groomer barn, 17N to just past Deer View Lane/1, Manske Swamp/3N.
Here are a few continuing reminders on the trails:
- Trail 1N logging operation continues in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake. Clearly marked with signs. Minimal grooming on this trail.
CATFISH LAKE LOOP & EAGLE LAKE TRAILS ARE NOW BOTH MARKED AND OFFICIALLY OPEN. PLEASE STAY BY THE ORANGE REFLECTIVE BARRELS TO BE SAFE. REMINDER THE CATFISH LAKE LOOP TO LUMPY’S IS NO LONGER A TRAIL.
If you are riding zip on over to the “grade” to check out the 2018 Eagle River Area Fire Department ICE CASTLE!!!! Located adjacent to the downtown “grade” trail by the Historic Railroad Grade. The lights installed change colors. Ice benches as part of the Castle let you take photos of your group. Check out this link Eagle River Ice Castle to check out a video of the Ice Castle building. Warm did do damage to the turrets of the Castle. Good the cold is back.
Next on the Winter events schedule is the 13th Annual LaBatt Blue Pond Hockey set for February 9-11 on Dollar Lake east of Eagle River. Check out the is link LaBatt Blue Pond Hockey for info.
THINK COLD & Keep Dancin’!
